 Aloha!

Below is information about the Swap Meet Ministry Opportunity presented in the last OBN meeting.

Swap Meet Ministry Vision Statement

To use the Swap Meet at Aloha Stadium venue as a place to facilitate church partnerships by sharing church information to locals and visitors. The opportunities provided by this outreach would allow for sharing the Gospel and to pray for those seeking to know more.

Objectives

Objective 1: Sharing information about the churches within OBN. This information would include a map of the island and the churches locations, a welcome video featuring the pastor and some members of each participating church, a view of the campus, services times, and programs provided. Translations into other languages will be provided when necessary.

Objective 2:  Providing a venue for churches to come together in this partnering outreach by preparing information to be shared and hosting the Swap Meet table.

Objective 3: Sharing the Gospel with those who come to the table when the opportunity arises.

Objective 4: Praying for those who come to the table and take prayer requests for the churches to pray for later.

Objective 5: Offering free Bibles for anyone who desires a copy.

How would this work

1.      Once we have secured a stall location and have a tent and some tables, the churches assigned to that day will setup the material displays and technologies (i.e. laptops or tablets).

2.      To bring people in, there will be something that can be giving away (i.e. Bibles) and activities such as crafts for children and adults to participate in.

3.      There would be a large map of Oahu with location points of the OBN churches so people can easily see the churches available in their area.

4.      The Laptops and/or Tablets would be used to place short welcome videos for the churches people are interested in knowing me .

5.      There would be printed handouts with church information so people can remember the church information.

6.      There would be Bibles available on the table.

Considerations

1.      The original thought was to give away water, but we can’t give away any food or drinks that would compete with the stadium contracted concessions.

2.      We can rent a tent and tables or bring our own.

3.      Unless we have a permanent stall, someone will have to go to the stadium early in the morning to get one assigned for that day.

Prices, Rules, and Applications

Included in this email is a copy of the email that was received from the Swap Meet management with prices, rules, and application.

Hello Simon,

We have other churches here sharing their information with our customers so there are organizations that have found it feasible.  If you'd like to participate, bring your GE License or non-profit number to us at our box office on a Swap Meet day and we'll get you signed up.  I'd recommend coming in from 9AM-2:30PM on a Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday.  I've included a listing of our rules and regulations for you to look over regarding what is and isn't allowed to be sold, swapped or given away.  Small craft items from church members sound fine so long as you don't use "games of chance" to distribute them.  Please note that we do not allow vendors to walk around and pass things out; all selling or giving away must be done inside of the stall.  I hope that I have been able to answer your questions, but please feel free to email me back if you need clarification on anything Swap Meet related.

Cheers,

Kendall Kido
